Dr. Sergio Peneiras, a current resident of Monmouth County, grew up in Kearny, NJ. He is fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish. A graduate of the prestigious Pennsylvania College of Optometry, now within Salus University in Philadelphia, Dr. Peneiras earned a Bachelors degree in Visual Sciences, and a Doctorate of Optometry with honors. His undergraduate work was completed with honors at Rutgers University.
Dr. Peneiras has volunteered eye care at the Special Olympics and has done missionary work in Guatemala. Actively involved both on the state and national level, he was former student vice president and president of NJSSOP. He is currently involved in the Monmouth Ocean Society of Optometric Physicians and was on the Board of Directors for New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians (NJSOP). Dr. Peneiras’ mission is to treat patients as family and provide excellence in eye care.
Dr. Peneiras is married to his wife Debra, a Nurse Practitioner specializing in gastroenterology. They have a son and a daughter. The family enjoys traveling, playing board games, and spending quality time together.
